Monster And Facebook Let Job Seekers Be Known

Facebook users who are job hunting might want to let themselves be known via BeKnown, a professional networking app for Facebook developed by Monster Worldwide and released today.

BeKnown is available in 19 languages at launch, and it lets users: create professional networks in a Monster environment without leaving Facebook; use the Monster-developed social referral program to share specific jobs through their BeKnown networks; invite contacts from other social networks; separate social activity from work-related activity; determine whether BeKnown contacts are connected with companies or job opportunities; and connect to Monster’s job search tools and their Monster profiles directly via the app.

Companies using BeKnown can: mine Facebook’s approximately 700 million users; create visible recruitment campaigns; extend their job-posting reach; expand engagement opportunities with passive job-seekers; and create recruiter and employee networks. Monster Worldwide Global Chief information Officer and Head of Product Darko Dejanovic said: BeKnown answers the need and challenge in the marketplace for people to build their professional networks on Facebook, while keeping personal and work-related contacts and content completely separate. An estimated 700 million people globally live their lives through Facebook, and 97 percent of the Fortune 500 companies turn to Monster to find talent. BeKnown now gives people and companies the ability to utilize that vast network for professional gain by tapping into the power of Monster and Facebook.

Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer Sal Iannuzzi added: BeKnown is another extension of our commitment to meet the evolving needs of job seekers and employers by adding professional networking to their online recruitment, job search, and career management tool kit. Whether it’s through mobile apps, Career Ad Network, or the world’s largest social network, our mission is to connect people and job opportunities through any and all methods that produce meaningful results.

The Pasinaya Experience

Sleek in the City and I went to the 'PASINAYA' last February 6. The Cultural Center of the Philippines suddenly became a mad house, anytime a stampede could happen and the revered art institution can become an infamous headline. There were students everywhere, and I told Mark that this is not supposed to be a popular event, as the students are probably forced to attend this majestic event so that they can get a passing mark on their arts class (but of course I may be wrong).

But sarcasm aside, I thought the Pasinaya 2011 was a success. This was my first time to attend this and I have a handful of comments.
The event was carefully organized. I am pertaining to the structure of the performances, the timing, location, as well as the construction/compression of more than a hundred multi-arts performances in just one day.

The bad thing, there was an oversight on the influx of the audience. The event suddenly become a mad place. There were trashes everywhere, students are roaming and taking pictures as if it was a usual excursion.
They were noisy and didn't care about who's on stage as long as they are in the company of their friends and they can talk and laugh whenever, wherever they want.

Unfortunately, I have to listen to the amazing Philippine Madrigal Singers with a lot of unnecessary scathing and noises in the background. I was fuming in anger because their performances are so breathtaking, mad students are clapping the entire show.

Hopefully, next year would be a better event by organizing the audience first.

A Call to Improve Philippine Airports.

A nation's airport is probably the portal of the nation. It initially gives the foreign guest a snapshot of how this country looks like. It must stand proud and must exude a spirit of charm and hospitality. It must give comfort and convenience. It must give the Filipino people a sense of pride.

Apparently, this is how our airport chairs look like.

Price hikes barrage | The Filipino Dilemma for 2011

As if we are a First World Country and we have no reason to complain about this 'supposedly minimal' fare and consumer goods price increase.

Whatever happened to PNoy's executive intervention, but clearly he must have seen this collaborated increase and should find this detrimental to the Filipino citizen.

Starbucks New Look: What do you think?

By the way I got my Starbucks Planner last Wednesday. There's a story behind it, but everything is well now. I didn't plan of completing the stickers actually, I just realized that I could do it this year for the sake of completing it (if you know what I mean). I have to find a study analyzing why Filipinos are going frenzy over this overrated planner.

Trivia First:

The first-ever Philippine Starbucks House is in Ayala. December 4, 1997, the Philippines had its first taste of the Starbucks Experience with its very first branch at the 6750 Ayala Building in Makati City. Starbucks has since won the hearts of the Filipinos.

And Seattle's Best is owned by Starbucks too. So, don't mind bringing your Starbucks in SB.

The Face-lift

Starbucks logo change will aid company's expansion in Asia

Have you seen the new Starbucks Logo? The largest coffee house in the world and it's infamous worldwide symbol - the green mermaid/siren is having a makeover.

It's the fourth change since it's creation forty years ago. The face-lift coincides with the company's celebration of their 40th-year anniversary. Wordless and minimalist, the typography is omitted and left the tiara-wearing mermaid on its logo. The new logo is supposed to save space and ink in the production of their paper cups :)

I actually liked it. I always want change and Starbucks have a huge confidence that the image itself will carry the brand for more years to come and that is important. Let's see if this revolution will hurt the coffeehouse in the next succeeding months.

Interesting note from The Vancouver Sun

"Research in aesthetics shows that interdependent cultures prefer rounded shapes as they represent harmony, which is consistent with an interdependent view of the world," Mittal said in a news release. "Those countries tend to have a higher percentage of rounded logos compared with individualistic countries, and logos and product shapes that are rounded are more acceptable and embraced in those cultures." (Read more here)

Well, this could play a part. I didn't realize that a logo shape could have a significant cultural impact.
